What can Kobe Bryant teach you about practicing the viola?

As you may know, I am a huge fan of Kobe.

Kobe's individual workouts were insanely intense. He did them at 4 AM every morning. Is there anything that would conflict with a 4 AM workout? Probably not… And, as you may imagine, Kobe always did an intense warmup before his workout.

His focus was on the most basic foundational elements of his skill set.

I am a fan of Kobe as much for his athletic accomplishment, as I am for his philosophy for how to achieve that level. So much of his "Mamba Mentality" is what I want to represent and what I want my brand to be.

Kobe teaches us that our skills are perishable. And the parallels to musicianship are obvious. As musicians, if we don't practice our fundamentals, just like athletic skills, they go away fast and come back slowly.

Kobe taught us that he "never got bored with the basics." That's why he was one of the best players in the world, and he knew it.

And while I may not be the best viola in the world, I agree with Kobe - it's all about the power of basics.

A good coach helps you harness the power of basics so you can execute at the highest levels.

So today I want to ask you - do you have Mamba Mentality?

Mamba Mentality is setting yourself up with a good warm up every single day. Mamba Mentality is setting yourself up with no distractions.

How? Well, one way is with my Wetzel Warm Up class. Very few things will conflict with your 6:30AM workout with me (on Mondays and Fridays).

And while there aren't many spots left in the class, I'd love to see if this class would be right for you. Let's chat this week and see if you should snag one of the last spots. Hit the CONTACT ME button and we’ll see if I can squeeze you in!
